We have been here six years and we are still learning the language.

What we do

We teach in three village churches on a monthly round, and we run a literacy class for women who never went to school. Neither of those was the plan when we came.

The plan was church planting. The villages already had churches — small, old, and short of anyone who could read the Bible aloud — so the useful thing turned out to be teaching people to read it.

We are not the mission here. The churches were here before us and will be here after us. We are two people who can help with one specific thing.

What to pray for this month

The literacy class has eleven women and we have four Bibles between them. Pray for the printing, which has been delayed twice.

Pray for our daughter, who starts school in the town in May and does not want to.
